Falcon House is proud to receive many kind letters from former residents or their families:

Dear Catherine and all the staff,

As a family we would like to say thank you for enabling Mummy now to be part of an extended family within Falcon House.

Just recently, when Mummy celebrated her 90th birthday, you and all the residents went to such great lengths to ensure that it was both special for her and the family. The chefs prepared a veritable feast of sandwiches, salads, finger foods and a magnificent home made cake which was a real masterpiece. We just had to take photos of it all! The quality of the food you serve is excellent.

Everyone joined in and together this made her very happy and generated some lovely memories to hold on to. We left a very tired lady who had the most wonderful time just feeling the love of her family and friends around her.

We are deeply moved by the care and compassion shown by you all. It is clear to us that there is a culture of genuine warmth at Falcon House, where everyone is treated with great dignity and affection. You give us as a family, the chance to enjoy one another freely and we know that Mummy could not be in a finer, more caring environment which strives to keep her independence mentally and physically.

Mummy is surrounded by excellent support, care and love for which we are grateful. After the party several of the family commented that “If any of us ever needs to go into a care home then please make sure it is one like Falcon House.” I think that says it all.

Thank you

Dear Catherine

We thank you very much for the wonderful care you gave our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Violet Gunn, during her residence at Falcon House, and in particular during the final weeks of her life. All the family are most thankful that she was able to pass away with dignity and in her “home” surroundings, and we know that this was only possible because of the quality of care she received from you and the rest of the staff. For that we will always be grateful.

During mum’s time at Falcon House we were always made to feel welcome, whatever time of day we visited, and we always knew that she was well cared for physically and emotionally. We remember well her feisty spirit, notably in her early years with you, yet the staff continued to show her the same level of respect and kindness, even having been on the receiving end of her spirited behaviour!

In the final months of her life it was of great comfort to the family knowing that she could not have been in better care; every effort was made so that she was comfortable and we are particularly grateful for the time spent with her so she was not alone in those last days.

We apologise for not having made contact sooner; as you can imagine with both Violet and Stan dying on the same day there has been a lot to confront. We did send a letter of thanks to you all to Gordon in March, which we are sure he would have shared with you, but we also want to convey a personal thank you and to show our appreciation to you individually. We recognize it takes a special vocation to undertake the work you do.

There is always an element of guilt for not being able to care for one’s own parent in the family home but we believe that Falcon House provided the next best provision for our dear Mum and we thank you again for the part you played in that.

With very best wishes to you,

Mel, Barry and Sharon

I was very conscious of the fact that the high standard of care and attention to the needs of the residents which I always find at Falcon House was not diminished but rather heightened on that busy occasion (100th Birthday Party!). DM

A Home can only be truly a home when it is apparent that the regime and the will of all those who work there really do care individually for each resident. The care, kindness, understanding and effort that you and your wonderful staff put into looking after Dad was beyond all that we could have hoped for, for all of that we will always be thankful. TB
